Fertility & IVF Center of Miami

The A.R.T. of Fertility: A patient guide

The physicians and staff of the Fertility & IVF Center of Miami understand how overwhelming and complex Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) can be to patients. The purpose of this booklet is to familiarize you with the In-Vitro-Fertilization (IVF) process. This booklet will discuss the following topics:

  1. Pre-cycle screening
  2. What is IVF?
  3. What is TESA/PESA?
  4. What are blastocysts?
  5. What is Assisted Fertilization?
  6. What is Assisted Hatching?
  7. How many embryos do I transfer?
  8. Potential complications of Assisted Reproductive Technologies
  9. Embryo cryopreservation
  10. Frozen embryo transfer
  11. What is selective reduction?

Many couples come to our Center seeking participation in our IVF program and are already knowledgeable about their diagnosis. However, other patients are just beginning to learn of their infertility diagnosis and their treatment options.

Once the pre-cycle screening is completed, you will meet with a nurse that will coordinate your particular IVF cycle and give you an opportunity to ask questions that you may have after reading this guide. Our physicians are always happy to meet with our patients to discuss new issues and answer further questions and concerns.
